Vienna

Vienna is the capital of Austria and located in the east of the country. Almost two million people live here, although the city kept the feel of a large town. Part of that is down to the numerous parks, woodlands, and other open and green spaces. Vienna owes its size (and much of its beauty) to the legacy of the Habsburg dynasty that ruled over large areas of Europe for many centuries. Monumental buildings and great art abound because various Emperors, Empresses, and their families constantly engaged in a game of one-upmanship in architecture and interior decoration. Vienna’s city center (1st district, Inner Stadt) is easily walkable.

Airport

Vienna International Airport (VIE/LOWW) is located only 20 minutes from Vienna’s city center.
